  • Q: Regarding the predictive models of machine learning, would you see that some adjustments/development would be needed to work with supercapacitor data? Yes, you are right - it is a bit different than battery predictions, but the goal for us is to collect the data and to be able to find a real problem that we could address with it, for instance predicting remaining useful life (RUL) or state of health (SOH). After this, we will do whatever it takes to provide the best precision and recall of such an experiment regardless of the energy storage type. We are an analytics company and can support any voltage/current/time data. If you want to predict capacitance or resistance, it will be a slight change in the features and output but not in the model's input.
  • Q: Which Cloud provider are you using? We use Microsoft Azure cloud, we are partners with Microsoft. But our architecture is also built for containerization with Kubernetes and Docker so that we could deploy anywhere like Alibaba, Google, or AWS.
  • Q: What does it mean if the current measurement shows 4.384 A, given its sensor type and data aggregation level? To achieve meaningful safety, performance, and aging results, a minimum viable dataset needs the MIN/MAX/AVG values of every battery module with a sampling rate of no less than one reading per minute. More data always helps, of course, but if handled intelligently, even seemingly limited amounts of data can go a long way.
  • Q: Data volume optimization is crucial in every IoT application to save bandwidth and keep server costs in check. So how much data are we talking about for battery field data analytics? A single battery module sampling at a 1 s time resolution generates around 400 MB of data every month. A 50 MWh battery storage unit (which is on the smaller side of new installations in the US) adds up to about 25 TB every year.
  • Q: Do you need a separate computer for your setup? If yes, can it be a virtual device? We could also deploy on-premise without cloud and it could be a Virtual Machine inside your network. No internet connection is required. Please let us know your number of batteries, the speed you want for real-time monitoring and we will suggest configuration.
  • Q:  How do we get rid of unnecessary data altogether to reduce cost and complexity? Data cleaning is probably the most important and the most underrated part of the whole process of battery analytics. Since a sampling frequency of 1,000 measurements per second is usually not required and certainly not practical for most battery applications, some form of time aggregation needs to be done by the BMS before data is passed.

No, Energsoft has never been subject to a security breach.


Energsoft has a suite of information security policies including Acceptable/Technology Use, Data Classification and its General Security policy regarding security measures to protect customer and company information; and procedures regarding handling such information. 

Employee access to customer data is limited to only those team members involved with launching, maintaining, and servicing a customer account, and data is only accessed as required to perform one of these functions.

Employees must acknowledge our information security policies and employee handbook, and sign legal agreements including a confidentiality agreement. Energsoft performs background checks on all new hires, in addition to requiring completion of information security training upon hiring and annually thereafter.


Energsoft cloud environment features both redundancy within a data center, and the ability to restore (disaster recovery) in a separate cloud availability region. Backups, encrypted-at-rest are stored in an alternate region. In addition to processed data stored in the Energsoft system, Energsoft also retains a cloud backup of all original "raw" battery tester data files.


Adding/managing/deactivating user accounts
Energsoft customers have full control over adding/managing/deactivating their user accounts. We have robust permissions structures that allow for many variable scenarios of data access and permissions. Single sign on (SSO) can also be configured so that deactivation occurs automatically with a company's SSO managed credentials.

Administrative functions
Administrators of the software on the customer side have full access to user permissions, data permissions, analytics permissions etc.

Sharing data
Link sharing of any data is restricted to the permissions of the user receiving the data, users that do not have permissions to view data cannot do so through any links or any other means.

Access to classified information
Permissioning can be easily set up which puts data into classified categories, allowing only access for users with correct credentials.

Password requirements
Password requirements are set by the customer's organization, however we strongly recommend our customers follow best practices which involve long randomized passwords and scheduled password changes. Single sign on (SSO) is supported. 


Energsoft deletes customer data along with the customer instance upon conclusion of our commercial engagement unless otherwise directed by the customer.
